What to Plant in October/November
October is the beginning of the gardening season here in Florida. Think of it like Springtime up North. This is the time to dust off all your gardening tools, buy some new seeds and plants, and get digging in the dirt.
Maybe you spent your summer making a Lasagna Garden Bed, or maybe you have a raised bed or potted garden space that you use each year. No matter what your space looks like, NOW IS THE TIME for making it into a productive garden. Nature is on your side when you plant at the right time, and nature will help you out with cooler nights and less bugs and plant diseases.
October/November is a good time to plant:
Kale, Collards, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Arugula, Lettuce, Mustard Greens, Bok Choy, Swiss Chard, Beets, Carrots, Radishes, Green Onions, Chives, Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary, Cilantro, Dill, Parsley, Strawberries, flowers like marigolds, zinnias, nasturtiums, calendula
If you are planting in a protected area (protected from frosts) you can plant tomatoes, peppers, beans, and sunflowers in October as well.
